Lab Rats is a new venture devised by 1917 that will involve you, the record buying public, in shaping how a record is marketed. Once you have signed up via the very simple form on this site, you will be a member of an exclusive team whose opinions count.
We will send you links to music online, proposed artwork for CD sleeves and so on and ask your opinion of them. We will also be offering a quantity of free advance copies of CDs and merchandise, which you will need to earn by telling us how you will spread the word on the act in your environment.
The way it works is as follows. We will email our Lab Rats a link, you will come back and give us your honest opinions. We need honesty here and will frown upon anyone who just says things are great so they will get free stuff. This kind of feedback helps the record label shape who they market the album hardest to, and this is why we need to know your age and where you live. We will also ask that you tell us exactly how you will spread the word. This could mean going round local shops with posters, getting it played in your college common room, emailing your friends a link - its your call. Those that are most convincing will be sent the record and asked to feedback to us on how it went.
Its a brand new service for labels, and one that they desire. The music will be very diverse, you won't like everything we send you we are sure, but your thoughts count and we look forward to hearing them.
