1917 work within the film industry in two main areas.
MUSIC PROVISION
We work closely with record labels, bands and management in finding music that would be suitable for films. With a large roster of contacts and a wide knowledge of music both new and old, we are perfectly placed to source the music for a wide variety of projects.
Projects we have been involved with to date include I Want Candy, where we brokered the deal for Melanie C to perform the title song and the forthcoming Angus Thongs and Full Frontal Snoggiong.
For the latter we were the people behind the auditions to find the 4 musicians who make up The Stiff Dylans, a band appearing in the film. We recommended that the band be recruited from UK music colleges, put together 2 auditions in Brighton and Guildford, sat on the panel and assisted in choosing the lucky students. 1917 are now managing the band, and have signed them to Columbia Records. The first single from the soundtrack, Ultraviolet, was released in July and reached number 41. The film is out on DVD in December and the band will tour to support it.
STUDENT AND YOUTH PROMOTION
We specialise in working with targeted areas of the youth and student population, and have strong links into the music communities. We can run campaigns at any level in these market, from wide student promotions such as the activity we ran on I Want Candy to specialist activity with music colleges, art colleges and university departments, as well as bars, clubs and assorted websites. Recent projects include Watchmen, There Will Be Blood, Paranoid Park and Flashbacks of a Fool.
